Paul Ride And Michael Wainwright
EDM number 942 in 1992-93, proposed by Neil Gerrard on 25/11/1992.
That this House notes that Iraqi diplomats have suggested that it is not possible to take humanitarian action to free Paul Ride and Michael Wainwright from prison in Baghdad while the freezing of Iraqi assets prevents the purchase of medical supplies; notes the inability of Iraq to obtain supplies such as rubella vaccine and hepatitis vaccine means that children cannot receive treatment; and further notes the contrast between the refusal of the Government to countenance the supply of medicines and their readiness to supply equipment used for the manufacture of arms to Iraq in the period leading up to the Gulf War.
