Conduct Of The Parliamentary Under-Secretary Of State For Wales
EDM number 907 in 1992-93, proposed by Rhodri Morgan on 20/11/1992.
That this House regrets the failure of the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State and Health Minister at the Welsh Office, the honourable Member for Cardiff North, to accept full responsibility for the untenable position in which he placed his own secretary, Mrs Carolyn Jones, in persuading the Secretary of State to appoint her to the Board of the South Glamorgan Health Authority; notes the glaring omission in the Welsh Office Press Release of 30th October announcing her appointment, which describes her as 'a former NSPCC fund-raiser and junior Church co-ordinator' and not as the honourable Member for Cardiff North's secretary; believes that the honourable Member's lack of judgment and failure to see the conflict of interest problem he was creating was so extreme even after 13 years of Tory rule that he should now be considering his position or having it considered for him.
