Education In Gloucestershire
EDM number 885 in 1992-93, proposed by Nigel Jones on 18/11/1992.
That this House regrets the comments made during Education questions on 17th November by the honourable Member for West Gloucestershire regarding Gloucestershire County Council's spending programme; notes that Gloucestershire is a hung council where Labour and Conservative councillors alternate the committee chairs every six months; deplores the Government's actions in capping Gloucestershire County Council; further notes that the council is in the lowest third in the league table of education spending; applauds the determination of the people of Gloucestershire in trying to secure high quality, properly managed local services at a price that they are willing to pay; and supports Gloucestershire county councillors in their efforts to improve their standard spending assessment in order to respond to the wishes of their electors.
