European Fast Reactor Programme
EDM number 875 in 1992-93, proposed by Adam Ingram on 18/11/1992.
That this House expresses its extreme concern at the Government's decision announced to the staff and unions at AEA Technology at 12 noon, Wednesday, 18th November, that the Government intends to withdraw from the European Fast Reactor Programme resulting in the loss of 400 scientific, engineering and support jobs in plants at Dounreay, Risley and elsewhere; considers that this decision will cause untold damage to Britain's technological capability and international standing by reneging on its commitments; and considers that this decision pre-empts the Government's review of energy policy which the Government was instructed to undertake by resolution of the House and shows again the Government's contempt for a proper and meaningful review of this country's energy needs.
This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
