'BEST OF BRITISH' MANUFACTURING SKILLS COMPETITION

That this House congratulates all the young people who participated in the 'Best of British' manufacturing skills competition held in Sheffield, which demonstrated the very high level of skills of British engineering apprentices; further congratulates the winners of the various sections: milling-Gary Strick (British Steel Cumbria), fitting-Darryn Law (British Steel Cumbria), turning-Mark Sunderland (George Turton Platts & Co. Ltd., Sheffield), CNC machining-Peter Conaghan (British Steel Cumbria), mould and die making-Michael Partner (Altus Engineering Co. Ltd., Corsham) and press tool making-Simon Whiffen (JEB Engineering Design Ltd., Mildenhall); wishes all the British participants every success in the International Youth Skills Olympics to be held in Taiwan next year; and thanks the Machine Tool Technologies Association and other sponsors for organising this event, which is a credit to the engineering industry.
