Sport And Television;amdt. Line 1:

EDM number 85A1 in 1992-93, proposed by Joseph Ashton on 19/05/1992.

leave out from 'House' to end and add 'welcomes the new contract signed by the Football Premier League with BSkyB which will end the situation where one million hard up football fans have to pay ú8 or ú9 to stand on wet terraces or ú12 to ú20 for a seat to subsidise the eight million armchair critics at home who contribute very little to the game, and is glad that this deal will help to pay for the all-seater stadiums demanded by the Taylor Report, and the rocketing players' wages to keep them in Britain, plus the demands from the Press and the England manager that clubs play fewer matches to help the prospects of winning internationals; notes that it was the smaller clubs in the Premier League such as Oldham and Sheffield United who never appear in televised games, who supported it most strongly; and looks forward to the day when fans will be able to watch their team play away from home in comfort, without paying high prices to ticket touts and the hardship of segregated travel.'.

This is a ammendment to 85.
