General Wilhelm Mohnke

EDM number 831 in 1992-93, proposed by Jeff Rooker on 12/11/1992.

That this House records that on 12th November Eric Honecker, former communist leader of East Germany, will face a court on manslaughter charges for the shooting by others of would-be escapees while he was in power; notes the speed with which he has been brought before the courts; believes that the German authorities should be acting with the same speed in respect of the long and continuing investigations into the activities of General Wilhelm Mohnke, against whom allegations have been made that he was responsible via the chain of command for the massacre of unarmed British prisoners of war in May 1940; and considers that the third and latest investigation by the German authorities which began over four years ago is being unduly delayed compared to that of Erich Honecker.

This motion has been signed by a total of 35 MPs.
