Review Of Gun Laws

That this House expresses its concern at the recent gun siege in Darlington and other firearms-related incidents in the North East; believes that a further review of firearms legislation should be initiated immediately; and in particular seeks consideration of proposals to include shotguns as Section 1 firearms making their possession dependent on good justification, proper training and membership of an approved and regularly inspected gun club (unless exemption is given in particular circumstances), to establish a national computerised record of firearms ownership, and to declare an amnesty for unregistered or illegally held weapons.
