BASIC AMENITIES AT ST. STEPHEN'S TAVERN
EDM number 813 in 1992-93, proposed by Joan Walley on 11/11/1992.
That this House believes that any parliamentary democracy worthy of that description should provide at the very least basic minimum facilities to young and old constituents who travel to London to lobby and meet their Member of Parliament; notes that the private banqueting arrangements available at the Palace of Westminster discriminate against those constituents who simply wish to have access to basic refreshments at affordable prices; notes that, provided the will was there,St Stephen's Tavern could still be adapted to provide a basic amenity for constituents similar to the refreshment room at the Natural History Museum; and calls as a matter of urgency for basic facilities at affordable prices and toilets to be accessible to constituents visiting Parliament.
