Professor Walter Holland And The Tomlinson Report
EDM number 807 in 1992-93, proposed by Brian Sedgemore on 11/11/1992.
That this House calls on the Secretary of State for Health to place in the Library a copy of the letter, dated 9th November 1992, which she has received from Professor Walter W. Holland CBE, MD, FRCP (Edin), FRCP, FRCEP, FRCPath, FFPHM, Professor of Public Health Medicine of the Guy's and St. Thomas's Medical and Dental School, together with a copy of her reply; notes that Professor Holland's letter challenges the whole basis and methodology of the Tomlinson Report into London's health service; notes that Professor Holland complains that Tomlinson draws on material from the King's Fund and regional health authority reports and that they have used what he describes as flawed data in an inappropriate manner; and notes criticism by Professor Holland that Tomlinson presents no cost estimates and no cost benefit analysis and that he does not believe that any serious decisions can be taken on the basis of Tomlinson.
