ST BARTHOLOMEW'S HOSPITAL AND THE CITY AND HACKNEY HEALTH AUTHORITY
EDM number 804 in 1992-93, proposed by Brian Sedgemore on 11/11/1992.
That this House notes that in a letter dated 4th November to Mr Tim Chessells, the Regional Chairman of the North East Thames Regional Health Authority, Frances Heidensohn, the Chairman of The City and Hackney Health Authority, has robustly criticised Tomlinson's proposals to close Bart's; notes that in an 'In-Confidence' letter dated 6th November to all district health authority members more details of these criticisms have been given; notes that Frances Heidensohn and her colleagues are particularly worried about reducing the acute sector, since local experience is of shortage, not excess capacity and of improvements in primary care leading to greater not less demand; and calls on the Government to take note of these criticisms and drop their plans to close Bart's.
This motion has been signed by a total of 43 MPs.
