Homelessness In The Southwest

EDM number 79 in 1992-93, proposed by Matthew Taylor on 18/05/1992.

That this House congratulates the Western Morning News for highlighting the problem of homelessness in the South West; recognises the particular problem of rural homelessness which often goes unnoticed; notes that there are almost 40,000 people in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset on council house waiting lists, whilst authorities in the counties have ú200 million raised from the sale of council houses which they cannot invest in new homes; and calls on the Government to relax the controls on these funds to allow investment to build new housing for local people, creating both jobs and homes.

This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
