MINERS' CONCESSIONARY COAL
EDM number 767 in 1992-93, proposed by George Foulkes on 09/11/1992.
That this House, concerned that there are many miners who retired or were made redundant before the age of 55 who are not entitled to concessionary coal, some of whom worked for up to 40 years in the mining industry, and bearing in mind also the current huge surplus of coal stocks and the difficult circumstances in which many of the miners now find themselves after many years of unemployment, urges the Government to take action to extend the concessionary coal provision to include all ex-miners who have more than a specified period of service in the mining industry.
