Saving Of A Prime Minister
EDM number 758 in 1992-93, proposed by Jim Hood on 05/11/1992.
That this House recognises that the Resolution carried by a majority of three on Wednesday 4th November saved the Prime Minister from resignation; notes that the resolution had no constitutional bearing on the process of the Maastricht Bill; notes that the Prime Minister lost the confidence of a considerable number of his honourable Friends; further notes that he was saved from resignation by the 19 Liberal/Democrat honourable Members who voted for him to keep his job, when millions have lost theirs since he succeeded the Right honourable Baroness Thatcher; and expresses its anger that a Prime Minister who enjoys only 16 per cent. support of the British people should be kept in office by wishy-washy liberals.
This motion has been signed by a total of 55 MPs, 2 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
