U.s. Presidential Election And Conservative Party Advisers
EDM number 744 in 1992-93, proposed by Terry Lewis on 04/11/1992.
That this House warmly congratulates Governor Bill Clinton on his being elected 42nd President of the U.S.A.; notes with pleasure that advice on negative campaigning given to the Republican Party by the British Conservative Party has proved to be unproductive on this occasion; hopes that this close and unsavoury collaboration between the two political parties will not be allowed to damage future United States-United Kingdom relationships; and looks forward to President Clinton introducing progressive policies which reverse the worst excesses of the monetarist ones of the past 13 years and which hopefully will be copied by governments throughout the Western World.
