Chairman Of British Coal
EDM number 738 in 1992-93, proposed by Gerry Steinberg on 04/11/1992.
That this House is appalled that the Chairman of British Coal, Mr Neil Clarke, writing in the coal trade journal, Club News, states that there are very substantial surpluses of coal around the world and that British Coal has taken steps to introduce Polish coal into the north of Scotland, Channel Islands and Cornwall; and believes that instead of selling out his own industry to foreign competitors he should concentrate his efforts on protecting jobs and pits in mining communities in the United Kingdom.
