Aerospace Industry

EDM number 696 in 1992-93, proposed by Dawn Primarolo on 29/10/1992.

That this House notes with alarm that the aerospace and avionics industry in Britain now faces a crisis which could threaten its existence and that massive redundancies mean that vital skills are being lost and hi-tech industries are being destroyed; and therefore calls on the Government urgently to develop an industrial strategy which invests in the civil aircraft industries, prevents companies transferring technologies to countries outside Europe and implements immediately a programme of diversification for the defence industries.
