TEACHERS' ELIGIBILITY FOR ELECTION TO LOCAL AUTHORITIES

EDM number 694 in 1992-93, proposed by Alice Mahon on 28/10/1992.

That this House notes that teachers from opt-out schools can stand for election to that area's council; further notes that teachers from schools which have had the sense not to opt-out cannot stand for council; believes this is a gross denial of rights for the majority of teachers; and calls on the Government to adopt a consistent and fair approach.
