"young At Heart" Campaign
EDM number 683 in 1992-93, proposed by John McAllion on 28/10/1992.
That this House congratulates the Young at Heart appeal for its outstanding campaign on behalf of terminally-ill children in Scotland; recognises the particular contribution made by its founder, Peter Stewart of Paisley; notes that the appeal has already allowed many sick and terminally-ill children to fulfil their lifetime dreams whilst fit enough to enjoy them; believes that properly-funded children's hospices are an essential component in the care of terminally-ill children; notes that there are only seven such hospices in England and not a single one in Scotland; regrets that the provision of hospice care is often more dependent on public subscription than it is on public expenditure; and wishes the Young at Heart campaign for a Scottish children's hospice every success.
