Victims Of Fisher Prew-Smith Ltd

EDM number 681 in 1992-93, proposed by Terry Rooney on 28/10/1992.

That this House notes the demise of Fisher Prew-Smith Ltd of Southport, an investment company and member of FIMBRA, causing thousands of pensioners severe hardship and distress; further notes that many of these victims are unable to obtain legal aid and thus pursue their claims through the courts, recognising this as further evidence of the failure of self regulation; and calls on the Government to bring forward appropriate legislation for statutory compensation and an industry levy.
