Vane Tempest Colliery

That this House deplores the decision of British Coal and the President of the Board of Trade for placing in jeopardy the future of Vane Tempest Colliery, where reserves exist in large quantities and coal faces lie waiting to be manned and operational; notes that 900 miners have to rise at 5 a.m., many of whom have to travel over 20 miles, to sign on and then return home; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to instruct British Coal to cease forthwith this madness and immediately commence coal production so as to ensure valuable coal reserves are worked prudently for the benefit of future generations.
