County Of Middlesex

EDM number 66 in 1992-93, proposed by Michael Shersby on 15/05/1992.

That this House rejoices to see the County of Middlesex flag flying this weekend over the Middlesex Guildhall in Parliament Square in memory of the men of the Middlesex Regiment who lost their lives at the Battle of Albuhera on 16th May 1811; recognises that the people of the ancient geographical county wish to retain and strengthen their identity with the Middlesex heritage; and calls upon local education authorities and the governors of grant maintained schools to ensure that school children have access to suitable books recording the history of the county and that its history forms part of the curriculum.
