Colombian Coal
EDM number 650 in 1992-93, proposed by Alan Meale on 26/10/1992.
That this House condemns recent British Government decisions which have led to United Kingdom support for the Colombian coal industry; questions whether it can be justified for Her Majesty's Government to be actively involved in assisting a foreign industry whilst the future of United Kingdom coal industry hangs in jeopardy or indeed whether Britain should be dealing at all with the Colombian coal industry, whose product in part is produced at low cost using child labour; and calls upon the Prime Minister to bat for Britain for a change and not in future to embarrass Her Majesty's Government in such a way.
