Glasgow Sick Childrens Hospital

EDM number 58 in 1992-93, proposed by George Galloway on 14/05/1992.

That this House congratulates the Scottish Daily Record in the lead it has given to the campaign to stop the opting out of the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Yorkhill, Glasgow and the adjoining Queen Mother's Maternity Hospital; agrees with The Record that such a move would sicken the hundreds of thousands of parents and children who have cause to be eternally grateful to these National Health Service hospitals as well as to the majority of past and present staff whose skill, dedication and hardwork have made these hospitals jewels in the crown of the country's health service; considers that such an opt-out would risk undermining the enormous public goodwill which exists for the hospitals throughout Scotland and the world; and calls upon the Government to save these hospitals for the nation.
