Bcci Inquiry And Allegations 0f Bribery

That this House is concerned about allegations made to Lord Justice Bingham's Inquiry into Bank of England supervision of BCCI officials that Bank of England officials were bribed by BCCI executives and that a Bingham Inquiry witness identified three occasions on which he had seen Bank of England officials accept briefcases from BCCI managers, including one which, when opened in his presence, was full of 100 dollar bills; notes that the same witness says he has since given Peter Hyett and Tony Thomas from the Serious Fraud Office information as to the identity of three Bank of England personnel involved in what he described to Lord Justice Bingham as 'palm greasing' operations; and, in the interests of clearing the Bank of England of any hint of suspicion, calls on the Director of Public Prosecutions to pursue such damaging allegations to the limit, including interviews with named BCCI executives, one of whom is known to be in prison in America, alleged to have been involved in any such practice.
