Rationalisation Of Hospital Services In South Glamorgan

That this House notes with alarm the contents and conclusions of the South Glamorgan Health Authority's Child Health Working Party that one single paediatric unit should be established for all medical, surgical in-patient, out-patient and community services, and all adult accident and emergency services should all be located together on the site of the University Hospital of Wales, the Heath, Cardiff; believes that this contradicts the Secretary of State's acceptance of the Authority's stated 10-year strategy based on three district general hospitals for South Glamorgan; and wonders what has happened to the plan for the third district general hospital since the general election.
