Hmi Review Of Technology Orders
EDM number 519 in 1992-93, proposed by Edward O'Hara on 15/07/1992.
That this House notes with concern reports in the Press that there is a strong possibility that the subject of food will be removed from the current technology orders; notes also the increased incidence of food related illnesses, radically changing work patterns and restricted family budgets; believes therefore that children should have the opportunity at school to acquire information and develop sound practice in nutrition, food hygiene, safety and preparation; recognises also the many opportunities offered by the study of food for attainment targets and programmes of study for National Curriculum technology; and urges therefore that the subject of food should be retained as part of the curriculum to which every pupil is entitled under the Education Reform Act.
