Sunday Times And Goebbels Diaries (No2)
EDM number 468 in 1992-93, proposed by Dawn Primarolo on 09/07/1992.
That this House condemns the continuing defence by The Sunday Times of its decision to pay a considerable sum of money, reported by the Independent newspaper to be ú75,000, to David Irving to transcribe diaries of Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels, noting that David Irving is an apologist for fascism, who completely denies the reality of the Holocaust and claims that the extermination camps were a 'figment of British wartime propaganda'; believes that the employment of someone with such views to undertake such sensitive work is provocative and completely indefensible; and further supports the call by the Anti-Racist Alliance and a wide range of Jewish organisations for the cancellation of The Sunday Times contract with David Irving.
This motion has been signed by a total of 37 MPs.
