Invitations To Officers Of The Indonesian Army

That this House notes with concern that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has invited Mr Kustanto Widiatmoko, Mr Akmad Buldan and Mr Minulyo Suprato, three officers in the Indonesian army to attend the Royal College of Military Science at Shrivenham under the Department's scholarships; believes that in the light of the harsh sentences passed on the survivors of the Santa Cruz massacre in Dili, East Timor, on 12th November 1991, and the continuing serious violations of human rights by the members of the Indonesian armed forces throughout Indonesia, these invitations are a disgrace; and calls on the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs to withdraw these invitations immediately.
