Animal Welfare-Conduct Of The Pm
EDM number 326 in 1992-93, proposed by Terry Lewis on 24/06/1992.
That this House recalls that before the General Election the Prime Minister declared that his objection to the Wild Mammals (Protection) Bill rested upon what he perceived to be `drafting defects in the text'; notes now with utter disgust that he has believed, all along, that the hunting of animals with dogs `is a matter of personal choice'; regrets that for obvious electoral reasons he failed, before 9th April, to disclose his true position on this aspect of animal welfare; but believes, nonetheless, that without his support this Parliament will pass legislation to ban the cruel practice of hunting with dogs.
