Top Salaries Pay Award

EDM number 324 in 1992-93, proposed by Alan Simpson on 24/06/1992.

That this House recognises that senior judges, civil servants and military personnel are already extremely well paid; notes the Government's repeated calls for restraint and moderation in pay settlements; therefore calls upon the Government to limit the top salaries pay awards to the level of increase in pensions and benefits; and believes that a classless society will never be built until the poorest are rewarded on the same basis as the rich reward themselves.
