Sir Charles Groves

EDM number 311 in 1992-93, proposed by John G Blackburn on 23/06/1992.

That this House mourns the death of Sir Charles Groves who gave his entire life to the joy and beauty of music; recognises the invaluable contribution he made to the outstanding success of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra; and commends his humble disposition and timeless support of young conductors, including Simon Rattle, and musicians at every level, whilst his contribution to orchestral music on the international scene will be sadly missed as he leaves the musical world an example which is both inspirational and worthy of the highest recognition.

This motion has been signed by a total of 26 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
