Further Expansion Of Home Ownership
EDM number 307 in 1992-93, proposed by Malcolm Thornton on 23/06/1992.
That this House welcomes the very substantial growth in home ownership under the Conservative Government since 1979; welcomes the significant part played by the private housebuilding industry in helping people to buy their own homes; is concerned that though Ministers have rightly indicated that the economic factors are in place for a revival of the industry, it has not yet manifested itself in increased sales or site activity; endorses the Government's view that the industry must be in the forefront of leading the economy out of recession; and hopes that the Government will provide early assistance in that regard, especially by a further extension of the moratorium on stamp duty.
This motion has been signed by a total of 56 MPs, 8 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
