Emergency Code- Transportation Of Dangerous Substances
EDM number 283 in 1992-93, proposed by Michael Clapham on 18/06/1992.
That this House views with concern the possibility that under the European harmonisation process the more comprehensive 'Hazchem' identification which provides an emergency action code may be replaced by the 'international carriage of dangerous goods by road' system (ADR) and in that event calls on the Government to ensure that dangerous substances travelling by road, rail or waterway in the United Kingdom will additionally carry the 'Hazchem' identification to maximise the safety of fire service personnel and minimise the danger to the general public.
