Controls On The Keeping Of Firearms

EDM number 2579 in 1992-93, proposed by Terry Lewis on 03/11/1993.

That this House is appalled at the news of a recent shooting incident in Bradford, West Yorkshire; notes with alarm that the .44 Magnum revolver used was one of eight weapons stolen from a flat in Bolton in August 1991; recalls that another of these weapons was used in a double killing in Salford in January 1992; further recalls that a third weapon of the eight was used in the murder of a security officer in Bolton in July 1992; recognises that these weapons were, until they were stolen, held legally in connection with a shooting club; believes that three deaths and a serious wounding are too high a price to pay for the privilege of keeping firearms on domestic premises; and therefore calls upon the Home Secretary to introduce stricter measures on the use and keeping of firearms for sporting purposes.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
