Housing Benefit

EDM number 2546 in 1992-93, proposed by Paul Tyler on 28/10/1993.

That this House calls on Her Majesty's Government to maintain housing benefit levels; expresses concern that any proposals to reduce benefit may deepen the poverty trap and increase disincentives for people to find work; and therefore calls on Mr Chancellor of the Exchquer and the Secretary of State for Social Security to take urgent steps to reinforce the housing benefit system and ensure rented social housing remains affordable to those in housing need.
