Access To Parliament
EDM number 2536 in 1992-93, proposed by Hugh Bayley on 27/10/1993.
That this House congratulates the organisers and participants in the Lobby of Parliament on 26th October against railway privatisation and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to abandon this proposal; is concerned that many people who had travelled long distances to Westminster to see their honourable Members of Parliament were not admitted to the House of Commons, even in cases where they had made a prior appointment to see their MP; regards this as an unacceptable infringement of their democratic rights; and calls for an urgent review of the rules relating to lobbies of Parliament to ensure that these problems do not happen again.
This motion has been signed by a total of 66 MPs.
