Loss Of Knorr Jobs To France And Italy

That this House is dismayed and angered by the decision of CPC (UK) Ltd. to press ahead with its plans to transfer the manufacture of Knorr soups, sauces and stock cubes from Paisley, Scotland, to Duppigheim, France, and Sanguinetto, Italy; notes with incredulity that this decision has been taken in a year when the loyal and dedicated workforce has surpassed all production and profitability targets set by management and has once again achieved BS5750; condemns the management of CPC (UK) Ltd. for rejecting the constructive alternative package of proposals presented by the workforce-led campaign committee; congratulates the workforce, under the excellent leadership of Cathy Caveney, for a dignified and determined campaign which is far from finished; further congratulates the workforce on its resolve to intensify its campaign; calls upon Her Majesty's Government to meet the company with urgency to force a reversal of the decision; and hopes that these award-winning workers are not made redundant with a profit-related bonus in one hand and a UB40 in the other.
