Centre For Continuing Education, University Of Aberdeen

EDM number 252 in 1992-93, proposed by Malcolm Bruce on 11/06/1992.

That this House realises the importance of increasing access to university education and supports any scheme which does so; acknowledges the success of the Centre for Continuing Education at Aberdeen University which provides lecture and discussion programmes in partnership with local authorities to Grampian and Highland Regions, Orkney, Shetland and the Western Isles; notes the fear of the Centre's staff that changes in funding arrangements for further education and local authorities may threaten this service; and calls upon the Government to act to preserve such schemes, not just in Scotland but throughout the United Kingdom, in order to promote further education and allow those in rural areas or unable to attend university to benefit from a continuing education.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
