Equalisation Of Retirement Age
EDM number 2506 in 1992-93, proposed by Alan Meale on 26/10/1993.
That this House is deeply concerned about the Government's intention to equalise the state retirement pension age to 65 years; sees this as flying in the face of public opinion as people do not agree that they should have to work for longer years towards retirement against their will; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to re-examine their intentions on this matter and, in the process, take into account the many jobs which would be created for the unemployed by reducing state retirement age to a common 60 years level.
