Roof Supports At Bilsthorpe Colliery
EDM number 2505 in 1992-93, proposed by Paddy Tipping on 25/10/1993.
That this House calls upon Her Majesty's Government immediately to establish an independent public inquiry into the tragic accident that occurred at Bilsthorpe Colliery in the light of photographic evidence that clearly shows that whilst roof-bolted sections collapsed causing loss of life, primary supports at the colliery provided sufficient protection to enable mineworkers to be rescued, thereby refuting previous suggestions made by the Health and Safety Inspectorate.
