Smoking In Northern Ireland

EDM number 2501 in 1992-93, proposed by Eddie McGrady on 25/10/1993.

That this House recognises that smoking is the largest preventable cause of death in Northern Ireland, killing around 2,500 people each year; therefore calls on the Government to support a ban on tobacco advertising; and, additionally, calls on the Secretary of State for Health at the meeting of European Health Ministers on 5th November to campaign and support a Europe-wide ban on tobacco advertising.
