VAT On Domestic Fuel (No 3 )

EDM number 2473 in 1992-93, proposed by Eddie Loyden on 19/10/1993.

That this House, being mindful of the serious consequences that the imposition of 17.5 per cent. VAT on domestic fuel/energy will have on consumers in general and in particular groups such as pensioners, people on benefits and the low paid, calls on the Government to scrap proposals to impose VAT on domestic consumption of gas and electricity and avoid the dangers to the health and well being of those groups who will be forced to switch off in order to avoid unaffordable bills for heating their homes.
