Deregulation And Lifting Burdens Upon Business
EDM number 2386 in 1992-93, proposed by Nicholas Winterton on 22/07/1993.
That this House welcomes the announcement by the Minister for Industry that in future an assessment of impact upon the international competitiveness of British businesses, particularly small businesses, will precede any future regulations brought forward by Government; believes that this commitment will be a great boost to British companies and the British economy; hopes that the assessment of such impact will include industry representatives and that its results will be published alongside those of the public sector manpower and finance implications currently included in the 'Explanatory Memorandum' attached to Government Bills and Orders; and encourages all Government Ministers to come forward with further practical measures to promote the lifting of unnecessary regulatory and administrative burdens upon business.
