Dublin And Monaghan Bombings (No. 2)

EDM number 2370 in 1992-93, proposed by Ken Livingstone on 21/07/1993.

That this House notes with concern the statement by Lieutenant Colonel George Styles, a holder of the George Cross and former head of the British Army's bomb disposal network, on Yorkshire Television's First Tuesday programme that the British Army planted explosives in Northern Ireland in the 1970s, using seized IRA materials, and blamed the bombs on terrorist groups; further notes that the Garda believe that the earlier 1972 Dublin bombings were the work of the SAS and that Lord Merlyn Rees believes 'it was a unit, a section, out of control ... that it went on from Lisburn and it went on from the Army Information Service ... I have no doubt at all'; is disturbed that the Government has maintained a stunning silence, in the 15 days since the programme was broadcast; and calls on the Government to establish a full public investigation into these allegations.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs.
