Co-Operative Wholesale Society Labelling Initiative For Expectant Mothers

That this House congratulates the Co-operative Wholesale Society for its labelling initiative, aimed at highlighting the potential benefits of folic acid, contained in many breakfast cereals, to women who are pregnant or who are planning pregnancy; notes that cereal packs which are read widely at the breakfast table, are one of the best ways of highlighting the benefits of folic acid; and further congratulates the Co-op for being the only retailer which clearly labels nutritional information on products with the words high, medium and low and also lists the ingredients of its non-food products, such as bleach and toiletry products, even though this is not a statutory requirement.
