Transparency Of European Community Decision-Making

EDM number 2331 in 1992-93, proposed by Harry Barnes on 15/07/1993.

That this House notes the slow progress in the implementation of the agreements made at the Edinburgh European Heads of State meeting on transparency of decision making and openness of the Council of Ministers; notes the continuing reluctance of many departments to inform the House, via the Official Report, as to when formal votes are taken, what the position of each member state is on such votes and the position of the United Kingdom Government on contested issues; and calls upon the Government to take urgent action to promote greater transparency in EC decision making.
