Helicopter Search And Rescue Service Review
EDM number 232 in 1992-93, proposed by Nick Ainger on 10/06/1992.
That this House recognises the bravery and excellence of the Helicopter Search and Rescue Service; views with alarm the possibility of closure of any of the present facilities based at RAF Brawdy, RAF Valley, RNAS Prestwick, Stornoway, Sumburgh, RAF Lossiemouth, RAF Leuchars, RAF Boulmer, RAF Leconfield, RAF Finningley, RAF Coltishall, RAF Manston, Lee-on-Solent, RNAS Portland, RNAS Culdrose, and RAF Chivenor, whose strategic location around Britain ensures fast and effective emergency cover for all maritime, coastal and mountain areas; and therefore demands the present level and location of emergency cover continues and rejects any attempts to put cash saving before public safety.
