EDM number 230 in 1992-93, proposed by John Cummings on 10/06/1992.

That this House notes with concern the recent remarks of the Chief Executive of Northumbrian Water contained in the financial section of the Evening Standard dated 10th June 1992 in which he calls for a price rise of eight per cent, over the rate of inflation for 1993-94, two percentage points above the price rise for 1992-93; further notes that Northumbrian Water's profits for 1991-92 rose by 30 per cent. to ú61.1 million and at a time when complaints against the water industry rose by 130 per cent.; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to insist upon price restraint and that future price rises be held at the rate of inflation.

This motion has been signed by a total of 28 MPs.
