East London River Crossing: Rail Tunnel Proposals
EDM number 2256 in 1992-93, proposed by Simon Hughes on 05/07/1993.
That this House welcomes the proposals for a rail tunnel under the Thames at Woolwich contained in the document, Change Here, published by Friends of the Earth & People Against the River Crossing; and calls on the Secretary of State for Transport to investigate and evaluate the proposals as a regional strategic link as well as a possible alternative to the East London River Crossing road proposals which would involve the destruction of Oxleas Wood, a site of special scientific interest.
This motion has been signed by a total of 32 MPs.
